"LOS FELIZ VILLAGE" STREET FAIR COMING TO ATWATER VILLAGE
The organizers of the popular Los Feliz Village Street Fair, John Forrester & Associates Communications, plan to create a new two day street fair in Atwater Village. The planned street fair is scheduled for September 5th and 6th of 2009 and would take place on Glendale Blvd, in the heart of Atwater's "main street" business district.
The street fair plans to be drastically larger and more professionally organized than others held in Atwater Village to date. The organizers plan to close all east and west bound traffic lanes on Glendale Blvd (between Glenhurst Blvd and Seneca Ave) to accommodate a anticipated 75-100 vendors and over 3000 daily visitors.
The proposed street festival is welcomed news for many Glendale Blvd retailers that are struggling to increase foot-traffic and sales. The Atwater Village Street Festival and the Artwater Festival were both cancelled this year. Many Glendale Blvd merchants feel that a new festival is well-timed and could provided much needed stimulus for the Boulevard. They also hope that the press notoriety will improve the appeal of Atwater Village as a premier place to shop and dine.
John Forrester & Associates Communications recently obtained support from the Atwater Village Neighborhood Council and nearly all Glendale Blvd merchants for the two day September street fair. They must now get approval from the Los Angeles City Council and the Department of Transportation.
