5 Gateways into Elysian Park Juried Competition
Citizens Committee to Save Elysian Park Sponsors: 5 Gateways into Elysian Park Juried Competition
CCSEP is seeking proposals to design and construct five Gateways into Elysian Park that will create a cohesive identity for this historical park.
Up to five artists, architects or designers (in teams or individually) from the Greater Los Angeles area will be selected to submit final Design, Construction, and Installation Proposals to the selection committee.
Elysian Park, the oldest park in Los Angeles, contains the last remaining parcel of Pueblo lands that were included in the original Spanish land grant from King Carlos of Spain over two centuries ago.
Project Goals
• Boldly define and enhance the five entrances to Elysian Park, several of which are highly visible and well-traveled.
• Remain sensitive to existing and surrounding topography.
• Provide a more cohesive awareness of the whole of Elysian Park through shared design elements. (Not all gateways need to be alike.)
• Each gateway design MUST contain the text Elysian Park and 1886.
Up to $90,000 for the entire project including installation (all 5 gateways).
Plus, $400 stipend to finalists.
